“Our Shadow Garden” illustrates a child’s love for a grandparent.  After a grandmother becomes ill and is no longer able to work outside in the garden she becomes sad.  The grandfather and grandchild work very hard to make a garden for the grandmother to enjoy.  Once the garden is finished they surprise the grandmother and all of their hard work pays off.

Science:  Use this book to introduce nocturnal animals and shadows to the class.  Extend activities to pretend you are a nocturnal animal and share the experience in writing.  Use flashlights to create shadows silhouettes.
