L.     Summary
This book shares how it all began.  George and Harold are two mischivious boys who are always getting into things especially at school.  When something goes wrong at school the principal, Mr. Krupp, assumes George and Harold are involved somehow.  The boys ordered a hypno-ring from a magazine.  When it arrives they try it out on Mr. Krupp.  They hypnotize Mr. Krupp into thinking he is his favorite comic book superhero Captain Underpants.  He escapes out the window to save the town from a bank robbery committed by Dr. Diaper. Captain Underpants, George and Harold capture Dr. Diaper and save the day.  The boys then wake up Mr. Krupp who is still upset with them.

Some ideas that I think would be great for the classroom when using Captain Underpants include:  Identifying Character Traits,  Descriptive Language, Compare and Contrast Graphic Novels and Character Traits
The following website has a lot of information about using Captain Underapnt’s Novels in the classroom.
