Summary
|
Two
social outcasts, Jesse and Leslie, discover a friendship. The kids at school pick on them and their families
do not understand them. To occupy
their time, Jesse and Leslie create a magical place in the woods that they
named Terabithia. This is where they
went together to fight the trolls and creatures that they imagined were
attacking them. Everything was great
until Jesse attended an art conference with Miss Edmunds, who he also had a
crush on. Leslie decided to enter
Terabithia alone. She tried to swing
across by rope and the rope broke causing her to fall into the creek and
drowning. When Jesse learns the news
he feels responsible because he was not there. Jess has to overcome his grief and he tries
to by entering Terabithia alone for the first time. This is a huge fear for him, but he is able
to and this is where he finds peace with his grief. Once he has grieved he builds a bridge so
he can bring his sister to the magical place safely hence the name Bridge to Terabithia.
